NARSAL, in cooperation with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division (DNR-WRD) and the USGS National Gap Analysis Program (GAP), has just completed a significant update to the Georgia Conservation Lands database. The database can be viewed in the online interactive map, or downloaded from the Georgia GIS Clearinghouse.
The Conservation Lands of Georgia is a geodatabase that illustrates and describes public land ownership, management and conservation lands within Georgia, including voluntarily provided privately protected areas. The included lands are assigned conservation measures that qualify their intent to manage lands for the preservation of biological diversity and for other natural, recreational and cultural uses; managed for these purposes through legal or other effective means. More information on the Georgia Conservation Lands methodology can be found on the Georgia Conservation Lands page. This project was funded by the U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Department of the Interior.
